After the last game. The team deserves to play out the season without undermining Phil. Even if Steve O. decides beforehand, we can wait.

It is what a Top 25 Team would do. Let's show class and thank Phil for his commitment and efforts on our behalf for the last six years.

This Sunday will be 14 days...so next Thursday will be 18 days, which is how long it took to announce the hiring of Doh. I still think it may coincide with the Nov. 10 date after which Orsini can't 'recruit' anymore

It feels to me that we have somebody locked up already as there have been no interviews. Too much time has past for there to be no known interviews. The search committee met a week ao

going on that assumption, Dwan, who do you think it is? Barnett? Not Barnett?

There is no "class" associated with waiting. When the deal is sewed up we will announce ASAP for reruiting purposes. Get serious and get on with it - enough Mr. nice guy.

I'm positive it will be like the Doherty hire. Somebody who had suceess, fell from grace for one reason or another. I also think given the amount of time that Orsini has had, (I assume he started looking after the ASU loss at the latest) that it is done and the person is not in college coaching. Therefore, I don't think it is Barnett because if it were, why would he go public saying he is interested in SMU. That was a pretty desperate move. A coach of Barnett's statue having to publically campaign for the SMU job? Seems like a hail mary to me.

My gut tells me it is Shula. I really want Barnett as I have stated many times, best fit for our needs. I feel that if SMU hired Bennett, the story in the media would be SMU, the school that got busted for paying players, hires coach who got fired after rape and prosititution issues that embarassed Colorado. I mean, look at all that Barnett has done and look at the article on ESPN.com that said he was interested, over half of it was about the "Scandal" at Colorado. So Dwan perdicts Shula, with Bowden as the darkhouse, given his relationship with Orsini.

Riiight. Orsini rides a float around The Boulevard with his new coach at his right-hand side proclaiming that a new day has dawned in Pony Land. Put down the peyote sir. I can't seem to think that Orsini would announce the new coach on Homecoming.

C'mon, everybody didn't you know? Pops867-5309 said the Big O already has his man and that it's all timing.

This search was over before it begun.
It's in the can!
Done!
The fridge is closed, the milk is cool, the eggs are chilled and the butter's getting hard!

Also keep in mind Barnett may have put out these statements to DMN/ESPN about SMU job interest with Orsini's approval. I know that's way out there but ......... There is no quetion Barnett is interested in correcting false rumors against him.... Or it could be Coach Bowden all along. However with that said, I think it will be either Terry Bowden, Gary Barnett, or Mike Shula...all great coaches.

Coach Bennett understands that.... Look, everybody likes Coach Bennett. He has represented SMU well in many respects, and SMU has treated him with respect also. When we anounce the new Coach should be a non issue.

Who ever thinks Mike Shula is a 'great coach' is crazy. He doesn't know how to 'win' games. Don't let his 10-2 season a couple of years ago fool you. He is gutless, and as an Alabama fan and SMU grad, I would hate to root for a team that had him for a coach as I did for Alabama when he was there.
