Thanks for the post.

I found the donation by Hunt (TBD) interesting as well. Could easily be joined with Simmons to get us where we need to be.

•$35 million: Ray L. Hunt – 2005

(for the purchase of property and an academic project to be determined)

I believe Hunts $ for land was specific to the Bush library; so, the remaining funds TBD for academics might be associated with educational facility.
Laura Bush was a teacher.

The mother of all University gifts is designated to us and is on the way - it will be a few more months before announcing - but it will dwarf all of this.

Remember - our 100 anniversity is not all that far away, and a big endowment push is just around the corner. We will go from a billion in endowment to 1.5 - 1.8 billion in a very short time.

I am laughing over the irony of this whole thing. But we should all be honored to have this kind of gift come to our great school.

THE MILITANT FACULTY IS BEING OPPOSED!!

Have you guys seen the Education and Human Development buildings? They needed this gift badly. They had some of the buildings just east of Fondren Library and just west of Airline.

I wonder where the new building is going to go.

Is that the maintenance/DPS building? Right next to Hughes-Trigg?

Not Patterson.

Just north of Fondren Drive between Airline and Ownby there are 7 buildings. 3 of the 7 are the Education and Human Development offices, I believe.

You would be correct. It used to be housing. Well some of it still is, but now the Women's Center, the External Affairs offices, and E & HD offices occupy 5 of the 7 buildings. The Delta Sigma Theta Sorority has one of the buildings. SMU Apartments is the 7th building. The map I linked to has pictures of the Women's Center, the Delta Sigma Theta house, and
the External Affairs building.
