Can we steal a Coach?

Big Programs steal coaches all the time (yes, I know were not a big program). I was looking at coaches salaries and most of these top coaches are barely making over a mil. Why not make some of these whore coaches an offer they can't refuse. Rather then being a recycling been for coaches, why don't we be proactive and act like a big program and steal someones coach who the fans of that team like? That would make a big splash. And don't say they won't come. For the right price most of these guys will coach anywhere at any level. But yes, I still support us getting Bowden.

Like who for instance?

A friend of mine keeps telling me Leach at Texas Tech could
be lured away because he would become the big fish instead
of losing to Texas & Oklahoma. Plus he wouldn't have to live
in Lubbock. Still I doubt he would come.

I think enough money could lure Butch Davis if we
would want to spend that kind of change on him.

We dont want Dave Wannstedt do we?

Why not? We almost stole Dan Mcartney from Colorado in what ...88?

But I guess that was a different time...

again I'm still looking for 1 example of a BCS Coach ever willingly leaving a BCS school for a nn-BCS school.

i dont think you're going to find one. the only example that can come close was the coach from BC going to NC State last year. but thats just good team to crappy program. both are in the same BCS conference

Tubby Smith in basketball.

Edit: I know Minnesota is Big 10, but he willingly took a step down.

so is UK. you cant compare coaching basketball to football. the question is, who left a bcs conference team to a non-bcs conference team in football

If you consider pre-BCS days Ken Hatfield from Clemson to Rice.

I think he meant "did a BCS coach ever leave VOLUNTARILY for a non-BCS job". Hatfield was run out of Clemson. Mike Price is another one. CUSA has it's share of guys who fell from grace.

I thought he left Clemson similar to Tommy Bowden leaving Clemson any given year (if it were to happen)

Ok, here's the plan -

expony18 - you buy the burlap sack

smupony94 - duck tape

raplh - ski masks

BUS - scare up some big men, and remind them, shield us from the bullets, they won't shoot civilians

Stallion - he'll ride shotgun and remind us of all the flaws in our "operation coach theft model" the entire way

... I'll drive the get away van...

... we'll stop in NOLA on the way back to Dallas to get our new head coach all liquored up, careful not to loosen most of the duck tape.

We'll be back by sundown on Friday just in time for the evening press conference to introduce our new main man.... Urban Meyer.

Oh, I forgot, FloridaMustang, you still here? If so we might need some ground support in the swamps, so be ready. Keep that walkie talkie on.
