We need someone with name recognition that will be able to bring recruits in. We're not a winning team right now and there's not much of a reason for players to want to come to SMU. That's why we need a coach with a decent rep. that players would want to play for.

I detect sarcasm quite well, thank you. It's friggin' Akron and Miami Ohio, why would Stallion make the point they have the best defense in the NCAA? I have more respect for his intelligence than that.

I think I agree with you. Kragthorpe is a fine coach, but at this point in the game, SMU needs someone with some sizzle. Turner Gill has it due to his playing rep and charisma. Terry Bowden. Yes, Barnett too.

The thing is I don't see how SMU can afford not to bring in someone with Rock Star Status in the Football World. Otherwise, it's another 5 year experiment. SMU is that the end and we need a superman, not a "Bennett Part II" with Texas roots. Give me an 85' Mike Tyson (only with respect to fighting ability) not a Tommy Morris.
