does anyone really think orsini is going to screw this up? how could the basketball coach hire have gone better (realistically). the only people who will be upset with the football hire will not have been happy with anything. i think everyone needs to chill out.

I agree. The process takes time, and if the top candidates are currently employed by another school, that slows things down as well. Several people on this board are jumping the gun a little bit on getting so anxious about an announcement. I am as anxious as anybody, but we need to relax a bit and let Orsini do his thing.

Here's to having an amazing turnaround next season.

Ron Meyer and Terry Bowden as co-head coaches, Major Applewhite as O-coordinator and Buddy Ryan on D.

Now you're thinking like Tom Hicks.

Last I saw on the college football schedule there were two full weeks remaining -- Nov. 17 and Nov. 23-24 -- so if you're going to pursue an active coach and his season is still going on, probably going to be a little tough to announce anything.

And as far as "word" leaking out, when coaches want to keep something bottled up, they usually do a pretty good job of doing that despite the fact the coaching rumor mill is one of the most intense out there. They will tell their comrades what they want them to know.

I know that kills the likes of those who they think they have inside scoop when they have diddly poo.

And I can tell you this, whoever breaks this story is probably going to have to get from inside SMU athletics not outside SMU athletic.

BTW, I don't know about some of you but during this search I have been sleeping well at night.

Don't think we'll hire an active coach, General, so let the hysteria continue. Something could leak anytime.

Orsini will wait until season end

Orsini will probably wait until seaon's end to name a replacement because it is just good form, don't you know, eh, laddies.

Interesting - I bet we do hire an active coach.
Call it a hunch.
