One more miserable game to go before we can get on to the next saga in the sorry, post-DP record at SMU. It's enough to give you a case of the Memphis blues. Could we fast forward this vigil by forfeiting the last game now and proceed to the new coaching hire on Monday? If we do play the game as scheduled, any chance that we can win on the road? Never mind, I know the answer: we'll be road kill.

Theres a chance we can win...Memphis has already stamped themselves in a bowl, most likely NewOrleans...so a win really wont help them out much...
However, it will be senior day in Memphis and im sure they want to go out on a high note, unlike our seniors did Saturday

Give Tommy West credit, he was on the hot seat this year. But his team rallied and got it together to get to a bowl. Their bowl situation would have been better had they not blown that game to Arkansas State.
Ahhh, Arkansas State -- the scene of where the SMU season died!

that team definitely dug down deep after the death of their teammate and came together to turn one tragedy into celebration

Its kind of sad actually. I remember it like it was yesterday, waking up for the Tech game, tailgating errr i mean boulevarding for a few hours then watching us get trounced. Having my hopes and dreams crushed but I at least woke up that day excited the season was finally here. Sad the season is less than a week from ending. At least our new head coach will spark some interesting debates in the forum for the next 8 months.
Patton nailed it.

Patton is right about the exact moment the 2007 season died with the loss at Arkansas State. In 2006, it was the UNT game that killed us. The ignominy of Sun Belt teams beating us is what has brought us down to the low level we've become. From this low point, we may yet rise. If we ever do, we may have to change our mascot to the Phoenix because it will be a virtual miracle worthy of a myth.
The game, The game

Anybody considered that the team will miss their Thanksgiving holiday at home because they are playing in Memphis on Saturday? Sure hope someone does something to help their morale besides telling them thar their struggles are about to end. Good luck seniors and all the coaches who will be job seeking at Christmas.
