Will this Weekend Events Affect our Search?

Several nuggets that I spotted on TV this weekend. Mark May declared that Houston Nutt is leaving Arkansas. Big XII Pregame interviewed Coach Franchione who very much talked like he wasn't going to be back at A&M. Lloyd Carr is leaving Michigan and Les Myles may be his successor (or not). The dump Tommy Bowden crowd certainly got a boost by Clemson's last second fold against BC. And of course Tennessee almost lost to Vandy and could lose this weekend to Kentucky which does not give Phil Fulmer fans fuzzy feelings. Any of those names would be huge names for our program. And if LSU ends up searching for a coach, I would suspect that Mike Shula might be on their list to interview along with Houston Nutt (especially if Ark. beats them this weekend). In other words hold onto your britches, things are going to be interesting in this hiring season.

With luck, by this time next week, we will know who the new HC at SMU is. It should be one of the most entertaining coaches’ carrousel in a long time. I have heard that Pete Carroll is looking to change addresses. Apparently, he is worried about the damage the southern California sun is doing to his skin. He did coach under the watchful eyes of Touchdown Jesus which is enough of a ND connection for Orsini.

This weekend didn't affect the search one iota. Any good coach can see the talent at SMU is better than the record, but also can see that there's tons of work to be done.

The decision has been made. This weekend did not have any impact on the decision.

Maybe we can get Jimmy Johnson and Bill Belichick as assistants.

For what it's worth, based on what I heard from Craig James duing halftime of Texas Tech-Oklahoma, no one on the Alabama staff will be the new head coach at SMU. What makes me think this? CJ said something close to "The Alabama staff ought to be ashamed of themselves. There's no excuse for losing to UL-Monroe. Ever."

Maybe Ponyfans.com should start a Fantasy Coaching Search game to this site.

After all, most of us have wasted more time posting about the new coaching search then any other subject in the last 5 years.

Would you rather waste time talking about the play on the field?

Now that would be a waste of time.

Is there a chance Louisville fires 5-6 Steve Kragthorpe?
I heard they got spanked again this past weekend.
There are at least three "Fire Steve Kragthorpe" web sites.
