Alleged Louisville Insider FWIW

These are some of the comments on the Louisville Rivals page who is stirring the Louisville rumor board up there. Don't know if this guy is legit but more to chew on.
TVCard
These are the things that I know, as of today:
*SMU had not offered the job to Kragthrorpe or to anyone else
*Kragthorpe told his agent he was more than interested in the Dallas job
*Houston Nutt did have his agent contact SMU, but his preference is Baylor. Baylor's #1 candidate is Mike Singletary. Singletary seems more interested in someday getting a head coaching job in the NFL, than try to resurrect his alma mater.
*I have also heard that SK's wife is from the Dallas area. I don't know this for fact. Can anyone cofirm or deny this? Thanks!
*SMU would like to make their announcment a day or two after their last game against Memphis.
*Jurich would not hold SK or SMU to pay SK's buyout.
*There is a new name, out of the blue, that has surfaced and showing interest. I don't know the name, but I am working on it.
I would check flights from this Wednesday on, to see if there are any private charters leaving/coming from Love Field in Dallas.
Again, i have an investor who is a very big SMU booster and I know a sporswriter for the Dallas Morning News, regarding the SMU vacancy. My Comment: Doubtful since DMN won't even take this to press)
I used to work in The University of Tulsa athletic department. SMU has already called the point people there, regarding SK.

I love how so many insiders know so much about what is going on at so many schools.

Agreed. What would someone in Louisville know about the conversations held close to the vest at SMU and Baylor?

the three guys that might be a Wow! I would think would be:
1. Bowden-I'd think he'd slow play SMU so if its a done deal I doubt it
2. Butch Davis-HaHaHaHaHa
3. Mike Shula-hmm-the most similar to Matt Doherty in so many ways. He would put a great "face" on SMU Football and hopefully he has learned something from the stops in his resume. Real success is noticeably absent from that resume though
Kragthorpe is not a WOW. I have no problem with his Offensive Coaching probably better than those above. Don't think he puts the "face" on SMU football that the others above would. We could do worse but he's not the home run we are hoping for either
You know for some reason I've got the feeling the mystery guy is Mike Shula-I don't know why in the World he would take this job but who knows if we are going to spread 10 million over 5 years on a Coaching staff. Its supposed to be somewhat of a mystery but I see no definite denials that this is the guy.
I think its just as possible that SMU could strike out-at least if not willing to wait-on all these guys and essentially have to start over. I wish we could just get Graham and move on down the Road-probably be the best choice for a head Coach of a university in Dallas Texas.

Stallion, are you off the Barnett bandwagon or have you simply turned the page on him since President Turner's comments?

Stallion, are you off the Barnett bandwagon or did you exclude him because of President Turner's comments?

I will be disappointed if it's Kragthorpe.
Why would they not worry about his buy-out at Louisville?
Shouldn't that tell us something?
They practically want to run this guy outta town after one year.
Yes, he would be an upgrade from Bennett, but he is not
going to put butts back in the seats at Ford Stadium.
We need someone like Butch Davis, Bowden, or Shula to
excite Dallas about an SMU turn-around.

That's what I keep thinking. He had decent success at a similar school in the same conference. To me, that is not a WOW, it's a "not bad".

While Kragthorpe would not be a "wow!" type of hire that would elevate us into national prominence, I think he would certainly be able to make us winners in CUSA. I agree with those of you who aspire to be top 25 and crash a BCS bowl, but I think Kragthorpe can elevate SMU to another level and leave for a better situation once we have won conference championships. Then we could focus on bigger fish (ie Bowden, Davis, Erickson) to take us to a BCS bowl.

We have all waited long enough. The time to advance to a WOW coach is now...later will be too late.
