Tommy Bowden?

If we are going to buy out a contract and we are basing it on their previous CUSA record, why not buy out Tommy Bowden's contract? I mean, Tommy went 13-0 at Tulane, and Tulane is always in the gutter. I just think this guy Kragthorpe, who you all are pumped about, would be a huge mistake.

not the way to go when you have a fan base dying for a splash. A sign of true commitment, not lip service. This will not get attention from recruits either. Oh boy, its gonna be a long haul.

Are you reading the same board that we are?

Who is getting pumped up? Hardly anyone seems excited about Kragthorpe. And when Tommy Bowden's name has come up, it has been very positive.

Just because we're not assembling the torches and heading for Dallas Hall or Turner's House, doesn't mean we want to settle for second best.

I think most of the regulars on this board don't have to type in Terry Bowden's name on PF 2,756 times to get our points across.

I very much doubt that there is one recruit (including recruits in Louisville) that have ever heard of Kragthorpe. Bennett was supposed to be the same type of hire for SMU. At least, Bowden has a name that can help with recruiting. Get ready for more years of 4-8 seasons if it's Kragthorpe. Maybe even one or two 0-12 seasons if were lucky.

I like the idea of Tommy Bowden. We're prepared to offer more money than Clemson is paying him ($1.1 million) and Clemson fans are ready to show him the door since he can't seem to get them an ACC championship. His success at Tulane shows he can win at a school with high academic requirements. I hope we can get him or someone like him.

Tommy Bowden would be my very first choice. Proven winner at Tulane. And a proven winner at Clemson. The ACC has become a tough football conference. If he leaves or is fired, Clemson may later realize what they had.

One huge difference between Kragthowup and Bowden (Besides the fact that Tommy went 13-0 in CUSA) is that a Bowden hire would make 100% of the SMU fans happy, where a Kragthorpe hire would only get %2 percent of the crazy ponys happy.

would love to have tommy bowden. would be thrilled with any of the following:

Terry Bowden, Tommy Bowden, Gary Barnett, Glen Mason, Turner Gill.

Would be fine with Applewhite, at least it would not be the play it safe choice. Take a damn chance.

on the ultimate wish list, Butch Davis.

If Bowden loses to South Carolina Saturday, I think he may be done.

Here's what Forde said on ESPN about that game.

"Clemson-South Carolina (32). At stake: Tommy Bowden's job, both teams' bowl profiles. Upper hand: Gamecocks snapped a four-game losing streak to the Tigers last year. Feeling heat: Bowden's backside is always toasty, but this is more immediate than usual. Dash pick: South Carolina 28, Clemson 25."

So should we be rooting for Clemson to lose this weekend?

If you want Tommy and think we can get him. Go USC.

OK let me clear this up for you-SMU is not getting Tommy Bowden. First, he likely will be retained. Second, he would slow play SMU and wait until every other BCS job is filled and he has no other prospects Third, -then on about January 15th when every other job is filled, SMU might have a 20% shot. First Money doesn't buy everything. Second, SMU is not outbidding a BCS school for a high profile Coach like Tommy Bowden.

Seems to me that Kragthorpe wiped PB's arse in recruiting every year in CUSA
