Louisville has scheduled a 2 p.m. news conferenceModerators: PonyPride, SmooPower Louisville has scheduled a 2 p.m. news conferenceLouisville has scheduled a 2 p.m. news conference to address the rumors regarding coach Steve Kragthorpe.
The media in Louisville has been feasting on reports of Kragthorpe possibly leaving to take the SMU job. Cardinals fans are unhappy with their 5-6 record in Kragthorpe's first season. Indications are that Kragthorpe will remain in Louisville - no announcement is expected from SMU today.
Either way, it's kind of amusing that a BCS school is having to have a press conference just because of lil' ole us.
If there is truly nothing to the Krag rumor, one entity and one entity only inspired all of this. PF.com. Maybe we can get McDonald's or Wendy's to schedule a PC to address burger wars?
Why would they schedule a 2:00 News Conference to announce he's leaving-days before a game. My hunch is that they are trying to stem negative tide and will announce he has committed to stay at Louisville-otherwise they would just wait until Saturday.
my guess is this could be hurting recruiting for Louisville, and for us , any press is good press. Hey SMU is getting exposure... how about that?
Carroll said he would only come if we brought in Spurrier as the OC. Talks are ongoing.
If indeed the press conference is to announce he is staying, I find it hard to believe that a week later it would be announced he is leaving. It is better just to say nothing or just tell a reporter the rumors are just idle speculation. To have a press conference to tell an obvious lie would just discredit all involved. (None of this applies if you're dealing with Nick Saban). I think if they announce in the press conference he is staying, I think that's exactly what will happen and our new coach will be someone else.

"Indications are that Coach K would remain at UL"? 103.3 only stated that he was a front runner, and he was flown in on Sunday for an interview. He will not announce his arrival at SMU before Orsini does, if that is the case, but all indications are leaning towards him not returning to UL next season.
Most of us Louisville fans think the presser will be nothing more than damage control. I would think that Krags was going to announce that he is leaving that our A.D. would want to be there. However as of right now our A.D. is in Vegas with our Men's basketball team who plays UNLV tonight and then will play in the Las Vegas tourney this weekend.
