Nutt Still a Possibility

All indications are that Orsini is striking out convincing someone to coach at SMU. He is scrambling.
But Nutt may still be on the table but ONLY IF Arkansas fires him - he will not go on his own - and Baylor doesn't offer him the job. He would pick baylor over SMU.
No announcement any time soon. With or without Nutt I have a bad feeling we are looking at scraps from the table.

There are actually no indications Orsini is striking out. There are a bunch of indications you are clueless, however. Virtually every post of yours is just such an indication.

Because his "research" shows him this. He just won't share what this "research" is or how he got it.

I love how all of you who don't like what I have to say just bash me and call me clueless etc. I don't care. Someone has to keep it real.
The indicators are numerous, although I will concede not proven. Main indicator - I have personally found that there is very little interest or noninterest in this job from top candidates to go other places. I am also hearing that Orsini is offering the job to some of these would-be candidates like coupons to Taco Bell. There is also no news surrounding this job being taken which someone like me always hears. Then you have Kragthorpe and others coming out rejecting any notion that there is interest in SMU when they were supposedly offered the job.
Whatever - some of you are like the fat girl before the prom who just knows her knight in shining armor is going to bust through that door and take her. DELUSIONAL. Wait until Baylor and Arkansas and Duke start announcing their new head coaches and you are still wondering when Urban Meyer will come down from Orsini's attic. I hope that is not the case but it is looking and sounding more and more realistic.

SMU is not offering Nutt, nor will they. They won't touch him - regardless of if he's fired from Arkansas or if he resigns from Arkansas.

I have said this several times. My research involves contacting firsthand and secondhand sources close to would-be candidates - those that I know - directly about the job. Yes, some are the coaches themselves. I don't care if you believe that or not. I do not know everyone who might be considered and so I do not profess to know 100% anything. But the indicators are pretty clear to me - there is little interest from quality coaches in this job and Orsini is having a difficult time landing the big kahuna.

Biggin, I may disagree with you 100% but the last paragraph is funny. I get this mental picture of Orsini sending Urban out the front door (after rescuing him from the attic). He then says, "Now Urban, you go straight to your game and coach it and come straight back home after the game. Don't talk to anyone and if anyone gives you a hard time or you're lost, find a grownup or a woman who has children. I don't trust security guards."

biggin has been to the stallion school of positive thinking, and just like stallion, has no idea what he is talking about.

With regards to Houston Nutt, at least, this appears to be the case.

A lot of folks laughed when it was first suggested that we could get Matt Doherty, too.

No No they really didn't. WhatsAMatter U. or whereever he is from-doubt many can remember the name of the school- is about the level of Prairie View in College Basketball. Orsini did a good job of spotting a Coach that had fallen from grace. He was right under Orsini's nose at UCF. I applaud the decision but few doubted we could get him if he was availiable.

All this doom and gloom....what has changed in the last five days? Butch Davis is staying at North Carolina and Krag is staying at UL. We were never interested in Krag and Butch....come on, who thought that was real?
I love the rumor that Butch wanted to come here last year but Turner would not let him. How does that make any sense? One of the most sought after college head coaches, who was on the Cowboys Staff when they won a Superbowl, and has a reputation as the guy who cleaned up Miami wants to come to SMU and we said no, we like Phil Bennet and his 17 wins over the last 5 years? You people are high. You think Steve Orsini would not have quit on the spot? You think if that info got back to Gerald Ford's of the world that Turner would not have been run out of town? Turner may be dumb, but he is not stupid.

Who are you that coaches would have such confidence and trust in you to share their opinions on jobs and openings?
