Honestly, has there ever been a coach do less with the talent he has?????? He is a worse game coach than Bennett.......If he had turned Young loose the year before, they may have had 2 national championships...........

I probably am going overboard, but think about it, since Mack has been at ut, he has lost what - 22- 23 games. How many of those games did he have less than equal talent on the field???? Ohio State, USC???? You could maybe make a case that there were 4-5 times, but you could also say 0 times as well..........

friar I agree wholeheartedly. I bet he's had less talent less than half a dozen times. Sometimes OU might more talent, but I'm not so sure. Stoops just coaches circles around him.

Amazing. Homeboy loses one game and all of a sudden he is a bad coach. unreal. sometimes players take a dump. Honestly, do you expect him to win every game? Texas under Mackovic was pathetic, Mack Brown has done a great job at UT. Granted, playing in the Big 12 South aka the worst conference in college football and then being able to have a top 3 recuiting class without leaving the state has helped

we had this argument earlier in the year. Mack Brown is not a great football coach. He is a great recruiter. That being said, look at what they have done in the past 6 years. Vince is the reason they won.
Texas (and I am a huge fan) won the championship despite having Mack Brown as the coach. Vince ran the offense and the team. Today's team is back to the chris simms' offense and they just manage to squeeze out victories against weaker Big 12 teams and lose to mediocre teams.
Just like SMU's yardstick for success should not be simply making it to a bowl, Texas needs to win the Big 12 or, at a minimum, receive an at large bid to the BCS to have a succesful year.

JT, with the talent pool Mac has just walking off the street into UT he is the worst coach in college football. He hires good assistants, but the politician sucks as a coach. He is terrible! PB is a damn good football coach, HC I don't know. Hard to judge a HC by his tenure at SMU. PB coaching resume prior to SMU speaks for itself, just read it. Every HC in the last 20 years sucks at SMU. I wonder why?

I think most Texas fans that I know think the assistants are the problem. Davis, Akina and McDuff are killing that thing. Davis is the worst offensive coordinator in America.

That's what I have heard as well.
Well, the entire coaching staff sucks. We are talking about UT. HS football players walk off the streets across the country to play there. Some posters even mentioned Davis as a possible here? Mac hires his own assistants, so whats up with that?
