Like I said in another thread, the Texas A&M and Arkansas wins are great news for us. Hopefully both coaches will be retained, but if not at least they made themselves more attractive for recruits after today's wins.

Yeah but when would they be availiable-after their bowl games? Neither is going to want to leave their players high and dry for the bowl games. Other teams probably had their TVs on too.

Where are all the ponyfans who thought Fran and Nutt would be huge mistakes for SMU now?

I like Stallion, even though he wears bikini briefs, but agree with him on how out of touch SMU fans have been with this search.

Fran walked out on TCU to go to Alabama after the season and before their bowl game - which was Patterson's first game

Well, I can't speak to Stallion's undergarments of choice, but I agree with the sentiment

However, it is still highly likely that both schools still let both coaches go. I would expect an announcement by Sunday for both of them. If they are not being retained then they will not be coaching in some spare bowl game as lame ducks.

There's a headline on espn.com confirming it. Still no story, but it headlines the link for the recap.

"Franchione steps down after A&M takes down Texas ..."

DMN has an alert confirming it as well.

So, do the rumors start to add up and Fran will be hosting a press conference with Steve O on Monday?

probably have to wait until the Aggie Board of Trustees approves his buyout agreement per A&M AD Bill Byrne.

If Orsini's interested, I think Fran would be.

Nutt might have saved his job with today's game, though. He's 8-4 and going to a pretty good bowl.

McFadden's quote after the game: "This isn't Our-kansas, it's Arkansas."

Have to assume that is already an essentially done deal. Byrne was obviously prepared for this announcement today. And secondly, a&m is no SMU - point being that Byrne and the athletic department don't take their marching orders from the board.
