First, the stupid TO before the kick - we win the game if he doesn't call it (and I am totally against ANY coach doing that - b/c it will kill you)

and going for a TD when you are the 'first' in the OT series...

Just plain dumb

Well...one thing's for sure: We won't Phil Bennett to kick around anymore.

Agreed.

I received a text from my daughter telling me that Bennett is a moron for going for it. I agree with that assessment.

Well, you're basically calling the team a bunch of morons, because that is who decided to go for it. It was their call and Bennett knew it.

I thought he was Phired? Seems like some handles on this board need to change?

Attention anyone else on this board that thinks it is a good idea to let 19-22 year olds make coaching decisions please let me know. If they are the morons that came up with the last play with Dorsey as the lead blocker then I expect them to run gassers until they puke to stop them from calling plays like that in the future. Then again, a real head coach would make the call on his own.

Name another coach who has gone for the TD on 4th down and not the 3 when he is first to act?

We're waiting STALLION. STATISTICAL GURU! YOU ARE ABOUT AS KNOWLEDGIBLE ABOUT THE GAME AS PHIL BENNETT, STALLION.

He went for the touchdown because he made the correct decision against UTEP and the defense let him down. He should have kicked the field goal.

Ok, so PB had nothing to win or lose with either decision made on the last call. If it is truly as it appeared on TV, that PB had the players involved in the decision, then I must admit I agree with the decision.

I would not say that agree with the play call, however.

If you disagree, good for you.

His job is to put the players in the best position to win. You don't let the second graders take over the school just because you're moving to another elementary next year.

Come on guys would any of you called those plays with 1st & goal from the seven? Chris Butler our best short yardage runner didn't even touch the ball!!! Not even smart enough to break the running back rotation to give youself a chance to win. Pathetic!!!

PB has more class than many who post on this board. Those who resort to name calling are certainly without class. Sounds to me like they would kick a dying bleeding dog in the head.

They are well past second graders.

Can you think of any great coachs past or present that would allow his players to go for it or not in that situation? Could you see Tom Landrey or Lou Holtz or even let's say Ron Meyer? You guys wonder why we only one game this year, COACHING!!!
