I think we have to go back to the classics for next year's uniforms. I like what we have now, but I think they've become synonymous with the mediocrity of the past several years. I'd like to see us go back to those early 80s uniforms, like what RGV Pony has in his sig...

I think those look damn sharp and would be a good way for a new coach to establish a new identity here.

that picture makes those jerseies look a tad dark. It was overcast and wet in the Cotton Bowl when that picture was taken.

I don't care about the jersey, just bring back the white helmet and don't EVER let another coach change it again!

Yeah, I was gonna say that the blue should and probably will match the blue now being used by the athletic dept. and the blue currently in the endzones at Ford.

I've always said use the blue in the endzone so that would be perfect

The jersey's in that picture look dark, because they were dark. SMU ordered jersey's with the Cotton Bowl patch on them, and when they came in, there was a mistake made, and that it was a shade dark.

They couldn't just sew the path on? Glad to know SMU [deleted] up back then like they do now. It's no end zone fire, but a gaff none the less.

There's nothing wrong with the blue of the jerseys on Kansas, getting kicked by Missouri right now on TV

I always thought those 1983 Cotton Bowl jersies were darker because they were cotton (or some less porous material) instead of the normal mesh we wore.

I thought they wore those jerseys instead of the usual ones because of the expected cold weather. Because it was a different, thicker material it came out (or photographed) darker than the royal blue mesh jerseys. I've never seen one up close, so I don't know for sure, just what I assumed was the case.

It's funny, the next year in El Paso we wore the white mesh jerseys with the Sun Bowl logos on them and froze our butts off. One of the coldest games I've ever been to. Alabama ditched their Sun Bowl logo jerseys (if they had them) and wore thicker, cotton-like jerseys and kicked our butts.

I think we were trying to appease the Sun Bowl and El Paso people because some of our players said disparraging things about both when we got screwed out of a New Year's Bowl. We were 10-1 with only a close loss to undefeated Texas and the Sun Bowl was the best we could do.

Gawd, I'd love to go to the Sun Bowl now.
