the 4th Quarter doesn't look very good. Opponents 111 to SMU 65. Hard to win games that way.

Opponents converting 54 percent on third down revealed how deficient the defense was at getting off the field and making any stop of consequence.

the 2006 Senior Class on defense was worth about 15 ppg. We actually scored more this year than last by a couple of points per game. 3rd Down conversions by opponents spiked 8%

Total Defense went from 4240 to 5984
Defensive Yards Per Play went from 5.2 to 6.2
Total Defense(Per Game) 353 to 498

You are correct, however I found that David Sherer actually led the nation in 1957 with a 45.0 average.
