ESPN:
ATLANTA -- Georgia Tech fired football coach Chan Gailey after six seasons, two days after the Yellow Jackets lost to rival Georgia for the sixth season in a row, sources close to the situation said Monday.
Gailey
Gailey, 55, was informed of the decision by Georgia Tech athletics director Dan Radakovich in a meeting on Monday morning, the sources said. It wasn't immediately known whether Gailey would coach the Yellow Jackets in a bowl game.
The school has scheduled a 2 p.m news conference to announce the firing.
Gailey, a former Dallas Cowboys head coach, had a 44-32 record at Georgia Tech, leading the Yellow Jackets to a bowl game in each of his first five seasons. The Yellow Jackets are 7-5 this season and are eligible to play in a bowl game for the 11th straight season.
Gailey led Georgia Tech to a 9-5 record in 2006, a season in which the Yellow Jackets won the Coastal Division and lost to Wake Forest in the ACC Championship Game.

I just want him to be our next coach because the "Fake Chan Gailey" was the one of the Ticket's greatest bits.

Amazing. He's a winner with the Cowboys and the YellowJackets and gets fired from both jobs.

It simply amazes me that otherwise sane people listen to the ticket. I stopped on 1/1/01--life has been much better since then. I was at the Rose Bowl parade having a Vietnamese Cappucino when I made the decision. Great parade btw. Don't walk behind the horses.

Also stopped listening about 3 years ago. While there are a few funny bits, it is primarily sophomoric drivel. Admittedly I am outside the range of its target audience.

It's pure something.
I was just wondering why anyone would take the Duke job. I know that Spurrier did ok there but now that they are in the expanded ACC it is the ultimate no-win situattion. A guarantee to be fired in 3-5 years. No chance whatsoever to go beyond that. No chance to get another HC job. I can see a 65 y/o taking it but anyone with any kind of coaching future should run as fast as possible from that situation.
