At least I hope I am, cause I'm setting aside any excitement and me being naive here. I'm kinda leaning on a couple of things outside of hype, rumor mill, and our wildest dreams.

1.) The Money- It seems pretty validated that somewhere between 9 and 10 million has been raised for whoever the lucky guy is to be our next coach. That kind of money over five years traditionally doesn't buy you Joe Smith standing on the street corner. Just a random coach, say Tommy Bowden, makes what, 1.1 million? So if we're going to put up that kind of cash, it will attract the interest of quality candidates. Or in the least, we'll be able to over-pay some rising star assistant coach and over-pay for a staff. Talk is cheap, but money buys drinks. If we put a big enough pile of money in front of the absolute first class coaches, they'd be interested. But we're talking about a big pile here.

2.) Orsini- This is Orsini's job. Screw any presumed "track record" he has, or past hires, it's his job. The one question you should ask is, "What candidate would I place my job on." if you are Steve Orsini. he is younger, an excellent businessman in the realm of sports, and this is his most important hire to date. If he gets this right, and brings in a winner, he will have his choice of very well paying jobs. The man that put SMU back on track. I don't think he's going to go out and hire mediocre table scrap rising star coordinator and place his job prospects on it. And if he truly can't bring in a good quality candidate to this school because we're that awful, or our standards are so out of whack, I don't think he'd be here, and I think he would have said something. He is not an AD coasting here looking for a paycheck and mediocrity. He is a doer, an assertive presence with a game plan.

3.) The Fans- I don't think any of us really knows anything. With all due respect to some who have been told this, or told that, or he's not interested and he's not coming here, and no one likes this job, I don't think you know anything. Because I don't think the people that actually do know them, would tell someone that's going to post it on a message board. And if you do really have reliable inside information, I personally believe you ought not to be disclosing. We're just fans, we ain't the big money boosters and the push behind the program. But maybe I'm way off.

It's one thing to be an investigative source that searches and searches and puts in calls and bases their opinions on facts and reasons and phone calls, but it's quite another to just pop up and say "this is going to happen, this isn't going to happen." I don't buy it. In the end, someone on here is going to be right about what will happen, that's most likely going to happen.

I don't know who it is, I don't think anyone on here has but a thought of an idea of who it is. But I find myself thinking along these lines as opposed to either the random rumor mills that put out something new, or the doom and gloom.
