Froggies Going Bowling in Houston?

The Horned Frogs are probably headed to the Texas Bowl, played at Reliant Stadium on Dec. 28 in Houston.

Official word will have to wait until the final BCS standings are released. If two Big 12 teams draw BCS bowl berths, the league won't have enough bowl-eligible teams to fill its Texas Bowl slot. That would make room for TCU.

Houston, of Conference USA, is already set to play in the Texas Bowl.

That would be one of those games where I have to root for the ball or the turf, rather than either of the two teams. What a waste.

No one deserves to go to a bowl at 7-5.

Don't necessarily disagree. However, that would mean eliminating some bowls. Any recommendations?

I agree with that, there are way too many bowl games now days. It has cheapened the honor. Of course, that also means that it is even more pathetic that we haven't made a single bowl game in the modern era.

I'd like to nominate the FW Bowl to be eliminated. The whole week before I have to be on the lookout for the police escort and the busses that shut down traffic on the streets around here. They seem to come at the most inopportune times. Oh, that and it never brings interesting matchups.

While that may be true, aren't you just throwing away any possibility at all of mustang postseason play? At this point, I would guess it is all about the extra practice for next year.

I think a few bowls should get elimnated, but the real problem is that there are too many schools trying to play D-1 football.

IMO the Sunbelt, half the teams in the WAC, MAC and CUSA should not be in division one.

I prefer to go bowling at the great Don Carter's.
