USA Today reports that the BCA is critical of A&M and their hiring process for only interviewing Sherman

Speaking of schools that would never hire a black coach...

If thats true....it is pretty stupid for them to not cover the bases and interview a diverse group of people....I am sure UT (who also has never had an African American head football coach) will enjoy it being public knowledge that A&M did not even interview an African American.

Melvin Watkins was the b-ball coach at A&M from 98-04. SMU can't exactly brag about its own record in this regard. The A&M obsession continues. I hope you guys like Fran.

MAN! I'm so angry! How dare A&M not interview a Black man!? I find it very upsetting that they chose to base interviews on qualifications and prior arrangements!

Everyone knows that a truly advanced, non-racist school would interview a candidate based on the color (black) of their skin and NOT the content of their character!

We can all be thankful that we are taking our time in the hiring process to do it right. Imagine the millions in donations that we would lose if we had to face this type of criticism. Not to mention the adverse publicity SMU could expect from the hometown press.

Am I the only one who finds this incredibly racist, not only to White people, but also to those of Asian, Indian, American Indian, Arab, Hispanic, Pacific Islander, 'Other', and Canadian ancestries?

Ponyte what's the word on Nutt? Any idea where he is going or who is the front-runner for Arkansas?

No word on where Nutt is heading. From the few details about the settlement, it appears this was in the works for some time. My guess is Nutt has other possibilities already lined up if not an outright commitment.

Potential candidates:

Butch Davis,
Head coach North Carolina, former UA player
Tommy Tuberville,
Head Coach Auburn, Camden native
Reggie Herring,
Arkansas interim coach
Paul Johnson,
Head Coach Navy Mike Leach, Head Coach Texas Tech
Bo Pelini,
defensive coordinator LSU
Gary Crowton,
offensive coordinator LSU, former head coach at Louisiana Tech and BYU
David Cutcliffe,
offensive coordinator Tennessee, former head coach at Ole Miss
Will Muschamp,
drefensive coordinator Auburn
Brent Venables,
defensive coordinator Oklahoma
Charlie Strong,
defensive coordinator Florida, Batesville native
Terry Bowden,
former head coach at Auburn
Glen Mason,
former head coach at Minnesota and Kansas

I imagine many of these names look familiar.

I wonder if the price for Nutt went up with the LSU win?

We had the first Black football player in the SWC, years before any team in the SEC.

My sources say Houston Nutt is going to Ole Miss!
