Fran, Sonny Dykes, & herewegoagainSo as it was pointed out, several things that herewegoagain stated have come true.
On Nov 5th he said:"franchione HAS accepted the buyout of 1.8 milion dollars. he accepted the buyout for the sole reason, to entertain the SMU position. he wants to act quick and decisively. he wants to get his staff on the road as "open period" is the sunday after thanksgiving. i am not writing to stir anything up...i was told this face to face today at lunch. franchione is also trying to persuade sony dykes from arizona to acept the offensive cordinator position. Then on Nov 26th: "Just fyi, I was told it could be done headed into this weekend. They are going to allow Nutt to announce he is taking the Ole Miss job and then we will follow with the Franchione announcement." So if it is true that we have fran and Fran wants Dykes (hee hee), are we going to be able to pay Dykes enough to leave Arizona? per the Arizona paper last year: "But that's not the biggest gamble Mike Stoops is taking by hiring Dykes, who likely will double his salary, to about $240,000, at Arizona." And don't forget Stallions tidbits that make this hire nice aswell: "Interesting Blinn JC where Brad Franchione coaches has at least 4 JC players who looks like are being highly recruited AND have not committed-a LB, a DE, a CB and a DE. Instant defensive help?" "I'll tell you another thing. For all those that think that SMU is right there and just needs a push, Fran has a relationship with about 500 players in this years class AND THE 2009 Class-many may not be quite good enough for the Aggies but he would be right in line for those that could fit at SMU. There would be less disruption in recruiting than in possible any job change in NCAA football history. In fact, this would open the door to a whole new talented group of prospects RIGHT NOW. For those that think we are close. Fran might be one of the best choices for making sure we don't blow an entire recruiting class."
When I posted, Franchione was already entertaining SMU after the newsletter and breach of contract came out. At this time Stoops was considered fired at Arizona. After the win against Oregon and UCLA and an exploding offensive, Mike Stoops will keep his job. Therefore, we will be unable to attain Dykes as OC.
Orisini is that you?
Nope. Doh and Orsini have blogs, Franny just chooses to write here on P-fans.
He is on the road recruiting right now. You dont have to be "employed" to recruit. He has been recruiting the last five weeks. Just not recruiting for the university he was employed. I "imagine" he might be making his rounds to the area high schools as we speak meeting with coaches, letting them know he is going to turn this thing around and he wants them and thier athletes to be a part of it. No question, he has people posting on every rivals blog he can, talking about what a good hire he will be and how quick he will win. Area coaches and Rivals, first place to start.
--- Rivals? Con you confirm, Stallion?
And people posting on PF.com to convince us as well? ![]()

Re: Fran, Sonny Dykes, & herewegoagain
There is no recruiting contact period on the internet. Kids read Rivals. Kids read all message boards. Fifty percent of recruiting is done through trolls and people "close to the coach" posting. I am guessing ten to twenty recruits are reading this blog as we type. Also, no "contact" peiod when you are not employed. I KNOW Franchione is at area high schools today and tommorow. Ask around......
Give us a high school so we can confirm. Is this Franny's Personal Assistant that wrote VIP Connection?
And what is he saying at these high schools? "Hey big guy, you need to come to the new mystery school that I will be coaching at in mysteryville...What? You want to go to A&M? No no no - you need to come to mysteryville when I take over a new mystery program....by the way, do you have a fax machine? I'm expecting a new version of the contract from SMU to come through any moment." ![]() ![]() ![]()
Anybody know how that NCAA Certification works. For example, Mike Sherman is not eligible to recruit for A&M until he completes his Certification process which believe requires certain tests of NCAA rules. Does a Coach have to be re-certified when moving to a new job? I guarantee you it would be a violstion of NCAA rules for a non-designated Coach to recruit on behalf of a university at which he is not employed. Bet Fran is keeping his nose clean with the NCAA don't you. I'm mean his livelihood may depend on his NCAA reputation.
