For all who are interested in a playoff system for football, this was posted earlier on yahoo!:

The last TWO rounds should be at neutral sites - like final four. Could include more major bowl games in rotation (like Cotton in Jerry's billion dollar house!).

Do we really want December games in the Northeast/Midwest? Ever wonder why the traditional big bowls are all in the South/West? No Patriot Bowl in Boston or Iron City Bowl in Pittsburgh.

Anybody see that Miami/Pittsburgh game last night? Is that how we wish to determine the eventual champion? Headline:"Number one seed upset by 16 seed that has tailback with webbed toes"

Only issue would be the travel - would a student body/alumni base be able to travel to New Orleans for the Semi-final and then to Pasadena a week/two later for the championship?

I wouldn't worry about the travel. It would be like the final four in bball. I seriously doubt that most of the people attending the final three games are actually fans of the school, more likely they are fans of college bball in general.

I love the idea of the 16 team playoff but considering that just isn't goign to happen...at least give us a plus 1 game.

Anything to validate the champion a little more

This would make so much money for Division I-A football schools it is not even funny. The TV contract for the rights to cover this would be huge…

And there still would be room for the other 48 teams that go to bowls to continue to go to bowl games. In reality the Sun Bowl would still feature two middle of the pack teams from BCS conferences. The Liberty Bowl the GMAC bowl, the Emerald Bowl and the New Orleans Bowl would lose conference champions, but they could fill those slots. The only issue with this system is how do you account for a Navy or Army? Is there a way for them to dance?
