Wow not only is our vacancy the only one that he doesn't bother to mention but then says we should be demoted out of D1A and replaced with Wofford.

OUCH!!!

I don't think the SMU faithful understands just how poorly SMU is perceived by the outside world. If - and I mean if - Barnett is still interested I would sign him today if I were Orsini. Convince Turner and answer questions later.

Barnett showing interest but getting no love really torques me.

I think the Sears Cup standings prove we are much better than thy think. The potential is huge around here.

He didn't mention Baylor either, and the first part of the story says he is discussing the "recent" job vacancies since Thanksgiving.

Last week on ESPN Sean Salisbury said the SMU job was much more attractive than Baylors. We're getting some positive press on ESPN.

LH,

Those Sears Cup rankings were skewed in part due to our Men's Track team that had to be moth-balled because we won't fix our Model in revenue sports.

we are no longer where we once were in the sears cup either. only our soccer teams achieve consistently high levels now as opposed to when i was in school when, besides football, we excelled CONSISTENTLY in swimming, track and field, tennis, and golf. a victory hear and there in those sports now (notwithstanding the demise of track and field) but nothing like we once were. potential, yes i agree, but our athletic program is a SHELL of its former self, and i mean beyond the so-called money sports of football and basketball.

I mentioned it in another thread - Fran has not hired an agent which means if he is negotiating with SMU it is on his own. Not likely considering his last few hires were all negotiated by his former agent, Craig Kelly, who is no longer alive. It is possible, though. I have also heard no reliable information on Fran to SMU anywhere other than speculation on blogs, etc.

Maybe the fact that Fran's agent is dead is one reason things are so quiet during negotiations. Perhaps we are waiting for a response.

That would explain why I keep getting some Korean lady answering the phone everytime I try to fax him something.
