Reliable source says Chan Gailey was offered SMU job this morining and is thinking? Would not post it if it didn't have credence. Source outside of SMU athletics, but in the football industry.

I think this would be a helluva hire for us if we get him. Quality guy. Offensive mind, could use Willis effectively. Decent NFL record and I bet parents love him.

WOW! Expect huge laughter and great gasps of yawns throughout Dallas and SMU alums. If he's the choice-he's about our 10th option. He's a steady coach otherwise-we probably could do worse-I think. I'm sure he can't screw things up any worse thatn it already is though. About the level I expected-and I had low expectations but HIGH HOPES. WOW!

I like me some Chan but he's not the wow that the SMU Nation needs to become relevant. I just don't see him recruiting much better than Bennett.

I sure this is a prank & there's nothing to this - hopefully.

We are ranked 117th out of 119 - I think we should be glad to have him. Let's face it, this is about as much about who wants to take in the mangy dog that is this program.

Chan falls into the "fired because he lost too much" category. Coaches who were fired because of off-field issues who are better than him include Bowden and Barnett.

I guess we can rehash this if you want. He went to 6 straight bowl games at a school that was clearly second fiddle in his state. He was 7-1 in the ACC last year for crying out loud. I'd be shocked if he was willing to come here.

"At the end of the day the decision was mine, and it was based on whether the football program was moving forward and whether our fan base as a whole was sufficiently energized and excited about where we're going," Radakovich said.
He said the decision wasn't final until a Sunday meeting with Tech President Wayne Clough, one day after the regular season ended with a 31-17 loss to Georgia.
But Radakovich didn't cite that game as a reason for firing Gailey. Instead, he mentioned the need for "excitement," "attracting new fans," "fighting for our share of attention" and finding a way to "inspire the market on and off the field to buy tickets." The standard he set wasn't just a team that wins but one that "energizes and entertains" the fans.

Could do a lot worse than a guy who went to six straight bowl games playing a tough conference full of opponents.

And Stallion, please tell us who options 1-9 are Something you picked up at a Mustang Club meeting? Or while you were busily schmoozing your friends on the coaching staff?

You and everybody else who has at the top of your list of coaching credentials "good christian ethical man" can kiss my @ss. I don't want to suck for another twenty years because SMU did not have the balls to hire the best COACH because he has a couple of skeletons in his closet.
