laugh all you want

I spent Wednesday night in the company of several players of the game of football. I am not making any statements here, but the names of George O'Leary, and Dennis Franchione were brought up.
There seemed to be more credence with the names of Paul Johnson and George O'Leary than any one else.
For the record, these statements came from current PLAYERS. They told me tonight it will be mid January before the actual coach is named. I asked if the new head coach is still playing, and they all responded they couldn't tell me.
Trying not to bring any rumors to the table, I spoke with a guy who catches the ball and a guy who throws the ball. There is a slight possibility that these individuals MIGHT live together. They had no more information than the rumors that have been circulated around here.

I hope that the sources are wrong. This board will implode well before January.

Way to make it clear on ponyfans where your info comes from. Now Orsini won't tell them anything new.

I don't think they are roommates anymore.

BTW, I find it hard to believe this will go into January because you have to salvage something from Recruiting. It would be catostrophic if nothing is done by Dec. 17 when the dead period in recruiting begins.

I am standing by December 3 until December 4 and then I shall reconsider.

why in the world no matter who it is would it take until mid-january to announce who the new coach is?
that would be ironic to be the first team to fire and probably the last to hire
this is nuts

I could see if it were one of the NFL types like Neuheisel or Shula that it might be mid-January before a formal annoucement can be made. Billeck is on the hot seat in Baltimore. They are on the cusp of being eliminated from the playoffs. I suspect, he doesn't want any distractions of coaches shopping for jobs. Billeck is a bit of a control freak. Jacksonville is thick in the playoff race (8-3) and could go deep in the playoffs . Again, the Jags might not want to have Shula announce his departure given their positioning. A January time frame in my mind points to an NFL type rather than a current head coach or an out of work head coach. That doesn't mean that the deal hasn't already been struck. It just might be that its being held up from being announced.

Sweet doesn't work at SMU anymore. Did you talk to the guy who throws a lot of interceptions and fumbles a lot? (or is he helping load the van?)
