No baggage. He settled with the NCAA and UW for $4.5 million so I'd say he's been vindicated. The Ravens offense is terrible - but it is also completely devoid of talent.

The nice thing about all this speculation is that we are speculating about Head Coaches and not OC/DCs.

Of course that will make the disappointment all that more great when we announce that we have hired the assistant wide receiver coach from the West campus of Northeast South Dakota State U.

You're absolutely right. Let's just have all of the talented athletes just freelance their way through a football with no plan to execute. I say just let'em run around and do stuff.

Spurrier did not exactly tear it up with the Redskins either

First there are so many cases where college coaches with solid offensive success tanked in the NFL. Steve Spurrier is a classic example. And quite frankly the Ravens have no decent running back, no offensive line to speak of and no decent QB. That makes it hard to run any offense in the NFL. And by the way Billick still calls most of the plays.

the raven's offense is terrible because they have nobody worth talking about. name one receiver. i can't. steve mcnair is old and hurt, boller never developed. their line is terrible in general and their running back, mcgahee is another punk with an attitude from miami who thinks his ____ dont stink.

plus, Billick is the real brains behind the offense

in the NFL they have something called the Draft which makes it mathmatically an even playing field over the long run and for the lesser teams. They have a shot to rebuild the team. Because of this relative parity-Coaching is infinitely more important than in College Football. In College Football you can literrally get all the No. 1 Draft Choices that you can convince to come to your school-and this in fact happens. SMU doesn't get a No. 1 Draft Choice-they don't get a Top 500 Draft Choice. College Football is about getting a lot better talent than your opponents. SMU has recruited as poorly as any of its natural and traditional rivals over the years and has competed well with none of its natural and traditional rivals as a result.

Except at SMU. At SMU it's about getting a coach before your opener. Who's going to direct our captains on which side of the coin to call?

Exactly. And then you can you have your talented college athletes freelance their way through a game without a plan to execute. And if that doesn't work, just let'em run around and do stuff.

And if you saw how we operated inside the TCU 30-yard line, that's kind of what we were doing anyway.

But our athletes that run around and do stuff weren't as good as TCU's athletes that run around and do stuff.

Neuheisel would be a great hire, although I'd be surprised if Turner would go for it. He is a smart guy known for his x's and o's, had success at two major BCS schools, and he was a great Texas recruiter while at CU. Throw in the fact he has something to prove after the way he was let go at UW, and he has all the ingredients to be the man who finally turns our program around.
