Johnson is a wow because look at all the rumors and write-ups about him leaving Navy and where he would go. GA Tech, Nebraska...SMU? It would be a hire that nobody expected us to be able to do. It would be, "Paul Johnson is leaving for there?! WOW!"
And that is good publicity.

so you want to see the Option at SMU...u really think we can win with that system of Offense?
Nebraska wants him because Osborne wants the Option back...and GA Tech is leaning...not a WOW...but a good coach...

I'm just throwing a little rationale as to why Mr. Johnson would be a wow hire for SMU. The way the internet has been going, he seems to have BCS stamped on his future. I never said I want him, I never said I want the option.

Just don't want an experiment at this juncture. Kind of looking for a proven thing. And to say Johnson is a proven thing is a stretch.

Poll is starting to shape up into a 50-50 race.....So we want a coach that half of us can't agree on, when deep down you all could unite and be happy with Terry Bowden....Maybe now, you can see my point?

I would say disappointment because he isn't a household name and his recruiting is unproven.

Johnson may not be an official "WoW"
But he may qualify as a "WoW Jr."
He seems to be very well respected.
He could really go bigtime if his resume read:
"turned around terrible Navy team, then turned around terrible SMU team"

Excited because I can see us winning with our current personnel under his offensive system. He's also won two national championships at the D-1AA level at Georgia Southern where he coached Adrian Peterson (no not that Adrian Peterson), who has more career rushing yards than any other player in D-1AA history (and also more than anyone in D-1A history). His 1999 championship was won by a score of 59-24 over Jim Tressel's Youngstown State team.
I'm a little bit skeptical of his recruiting, but give him the right assistants and it will work.
