I am sorry, but I had to post a subject line that actually makes sense.
You people who post "Who is Paul Johnson?" and "Is PJ a disappointment?" make SMU fans look ignorant.
And there will be many new visitors to the board the next few days, including Navy, GT, TCU'ers, etc. You people are embarassing.

in all honesty i did not think we could get PJ...thought he would go to GT or even possibly Arkansas. his name even came up at Nebraska, and he could've taken the BC job or NCST job last year...

I agree. I thought Johnson was out of our league. If this ends up being true I think we made a very solid hire. We get a guy with clean history and a proven track record turning troubled programs around.
I think it is extremely silly to assume someone like Bowden would make more of an impact than a candidate like Johnson.
Note: Turner Gill was my top choice. I would have been happy with most of the candidates we talked about (Barnett, Bowden, Fran, RN, Applewhite etc...). I think PJ ranks up towards the top 3 of that list.

Event the question mark? Question mark, you are more than a punctuation mark, you are now an event! *everyone cheers*
