Paul Johnson = Downfall of SMU Football

SMU football officially ends the day Paul Johnson is named head coach of the Mustangs. We had and still have a shot at a real coach: Terry Bowden (PROVEN RECRUITER). Hopefully, Orsini comes to his senses and realizes that Turner doesn’t know [deleted] about football. Just because you guys have been demoralized by Cavan/Bennett type hires over the years doesn’t mean you have to settle for a glorified high school option coach (WHO IS AN UNPROVEN RECRUITER!!!!!!!). Forget what you think about me personally, who is with me on this?

Just looked at his record.

2006: 9-4 (lost 25-24 to BC)
2007: 7-4 (plus Army and Bowl to go)

I'm chanelling AI right now...

Downfall, we're talking about downfall, man SMU football has fell and it can't get up...

PJ's got 29 players on his current roster from TX. I guess he didn't recruit TX, they just dropped in his lap. Give me a break...

We'd be lucky to get him or any coach with D-1 HC experience.

Sorry, I can't help you if you don't see that there is a recruiting difference when doing it for Navy as apposed to SMU. You need a personality to recruit. Johnson looks like another scary guy with a double chin....Boy are we in trouble if this turns out true.

I am unconvinced that recruiting to a service academy is the same as recruiting to SMU......

but Johnson is a big step up from what we currently have, and I'm sure we'll spend some good change to buy some assistant coaches with good recruiting histories.

Seriously, are you smoking crack?

At this point Navy's a better job than SMU, to think otherwise is delusional.

Check the records from the past twenty years.

This is WOW hire to me if we can get him.

I still think the speculation is too good to be true...

Hey, I'm sure as an OC at Hawaii he had to do some recruiting at the other end of the spectrum...we are probably somewhere in between.

Oh BTW folks...we don't have him yet. Don't go counting your chickens before they hatch.

J.T. =

first, you were for the OC at Arkansas State,

then you were for Steve Kragthorpe,

then you were for that High School football coach Dodge,

then you were for Todd Graham,

Currently - Paul Johnson

At some point you need to quit being a [deleted] with a swinging opinion and make a decision.
