According to the Birmingham News he is still on our short list - and the Tide appears to be concerned about the impact this will have on recruiting.

Hell, if he comes he can bring all his recruits with him. Tell Saban, what goes around comes around.

I'd hire him just to keep him from going to Southern Miss. He's very unproven, but heck, he's out recruiting top prospects which says a lot, and you can't argue with his success as an OC.

If Applewhite came hear, maybe he could beat North Texas with our players like Bennett did last year !!!....Maybe not....This year NT beat Louisiana Monroe and Monroe beat Alabama with Alabama's Rivals 5,4, & 3 players...........Good recruiter but maybe Applewhite might need to get some NFL players to win here ???

First, he's recruiting for ALABAMA, an SEC school, in one of the most football crazy states in the US. Second, we don't need an experimental candidate who MIGHT work out. We need a guy with a track record of winning AS A HEAD COACH. That's why Johnson, Gailey, Barnett, Bowden, Neuheisel and others are more interesting. There are several Coordinators I would pick before I'd pick Applewhite. But that's only if we are getting desperate.

I tend to agree, but the prospect of Major Applewhite recruiting for us in this state is appealing. He is already recruiting for Alabama here.

it's a little different recruiting for Alabama than SMU.
