Matt Viator to be named new coach

Credible sources have been calling me today and telling me Matt Viator head coach at McNeese State will be announced in the next few days. My sources are two current players on the team who were both redshirted last year. Below is an excerpt about his abilities and resume. Could be a good hire.


He was named both the Southland Conference Coach of the Year and the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Coach of the Year and was a finalist in the balloting for the national 1-AA Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year award.

He is one of the top offensive minds in 1-AA football. While serving as offensive coordinator, the Cowboys ranked among the national leaders in offense for five of the past seven years and the university has also produced the Southland Conference's top offensive performer two of the last four seasons. His offenses have led the league in scoring three times.

Atleast I am not so stupid to think that we will get P.J. We are dreaming again just like you did about the preseason record...justin willis etc. We are freaking SMU one of the worst football programs in the nation. That's reality! What does P.J. have to gain for coming here ...not a damn thing. I think Viator would be a decent hire...we need a young head coach from a smaller program to help rebuild this thing.

If you're going young, at least go with Applewhite or Dodgeball.

At least when they walk into a HS coaches office, nobody says WHO?
