....and as I said yesterday they are planning a broad based appeal including reducing recruiting restrictions and renovations of their Stadium. Seems like we are officially in a bidding war-here's to hoping BCS money wins out

Dook, despite being in the ACC, is a far worse job than SMU.

I wouldn't place much cred in this writeup. They are just rehashing what Bill Wagner has said. In fact, the credibility of the Wagner's original piece in which he heard PJ was flying to Nebraska this weekend makes the second point, at a minimum suspect - "sources tell sources which told a source that..." :

A reliable source in Nebraska sent me a link to a Web site that quoted a "tipster" as stating unequivocally that Johnson would fly to Lincoln first thing Sunday morning for a face-to-face interview with interim athletic director Tom Osborne.

One of the most knowledgeable and informed members of the Atlantic Coast Conference media sent a message from North Carolina relating rumors that Duke is prepared to offer Johnson the moon in order to turn around its downtrodden program. According to numerous reporters who have spoken off-the-record with athletic director Joe Alleva, the Blue Devils are willing to pay $2 million while promising to relax recruiting standards and upgrade aged Wallace-Wade Stadium in order to lure Johnson.

It is true that Duke's administration has their head much farther up their @ss than SMU does in terms of football. I would be surprised if they just made a decision and started admitting partials and aggressively pursuing JUCOS overnight. If it comes down to just them and us, I still like our chances. Well, if it weren't for that $2 million part.

I think Duke takes a hit from potential hires for how they dealt with the lacrosse team & its coach

Did you kill all those people?

Ahhhh, yes, sorry!

Oh, let's don't bicker about who killed who. This is suppose to be a happy occasion.

Duke coaches have to deal with the "Group of 88;" therefore, they must pay more.

So Duke is going to pay Gary Gibbs 2 million a year?

Spurrier visited Duke earlier this week to talk about their coaching search with their A.D. - not as a candidate himself, but as a resource for who some good candidates might be. I expect Mike Shula's name to come up in connection with Duje's search.

You know, stallion ol' buddy, I hope we hire Johnson for a lot of reasons, but mainly so you will officially go find another school to criticize. Get lost.

Duke has a very nice stadium--a 34K stadium in a natural bowl, srrounded by tall pine trees.

Two problems though: 1) no box seating, and 2) most of the fans aren';t from Duke. ACC fans (save the expatraiates from BC) travel. A game with Clemson literally fills the place with orange.
