They dont mention Gary Gibbs....why does everybody assume that Johnson, the former OC at Hawaii, will run the same offense he does at Navy at SMU

Whatever. Johnson is the type of coach who designs a system to fit his players. At Hawaii he threw more, at Navy with less QB talent he has to run more. That's what good coaches do they adjust their system to fit the athletes.

oops. Its a credible opinion whether some like it or not. Johnson is not bullet proof, nor is every good coach necessarily a good fit here. pretty soon we run the risk of being left at the altar. its already clear that barnett, mason and bowden are far from orsinis first choice.

Sounds like he's been reading my recruiting pitch on ponyfans. A footnote would be nice-but it is true-Top WRs, Passing QBs and WRs will not give SMU serious looks. Going to have to find guys who are overlooked or find athletes and move them. The good side is that SMU should have its choice of the Option type QBs.-generally those guys have limited passing ability further reducing the interest from top WRs.

Gary Gibbs is also not Orsini's first choice or 5th choice.....something Orsini has in common with every AD in amercia

"Johnson has built winners at Georgia Southern and Navy. But he's doing it in Annapolis with athletes who put God and country first and second, with team a close third.
Good luck finding enough of those players for SMU. And don't tell them you'll be throwing six passes a game, not if you don't want a face full of door."
Love how there's no byline, so we'll never know who wrote it. "Anonymous" takes shots at everybody.
Like Stallion, this person is suggesting that coaching at Annapolis, where during the recruiting process you have to tell them that there is a good chance you will never play in the NFL and an equal chance you will be obligated to go to Iraq and possibly die, is some kind of inherent recruiting advantage. Good luck finding players who love God and country first at SMU??? Cracker please...

Show what kind of a lazy reporter that person is. All I know is that the East Coast press is impressed that we are even in the running for PJ.

if it is in the DMN, about SMU, and is negative, it must be true

All Coach Johnson does is WIN.... Personally, I really don't give a [deleted] what he runs as long as we WIN. With everyone else passing all the time, alittle option might be some fun for a change. Especially if we start kicking [deleted] ! No matter what Coach Johnson runs, his teams sure don't have trouble keeping up with the score.....Stupid Article...the writer forgot who he was trying to take a shot at and what the FACTS are concerning Coach Johnson's teams.

You don't have to be Stallacious to know that even top rated water boys won't give SMU a look, because we lose so much. Top rated players go to winning programs.

And then again, you could put all the knowledge of football on a pinhead that the DMN beat writers know. That's why they're writers & not doers.

I'll never forget Johnson lulling SMU to sleep with the option and then getting some slow wide receiver open 15 yards behind the d-backs for an easy long td pass. The guy can coach and it would be exciting to see what he would do with our talent. No one knows what he would do here with JWill and co. so stop acting like you do.
