This is from the Baltimore Sun:
http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/coll ... 746.column
"That's about all he was willing to say about the subject, except to assure everyone that any report that he has accepted another job is totally false.
"
I guess all those rumors about him coming here were BS...
Obviously, he's pretty happy and satisfied coaching at Navy (what kinda person wants to coach at a service academy! Idiot!)
"It's humbling to be out there in a game of this magnitude [Army-Navy] that means so much to so many people,"
"I've got a great job," he said. "I get to deal with some great kids. You never say never, but it would take a pretty special situation."
As for a "burning desire to win a national championship":
"Again, you never say never," Johnson said, "but that's not something I spend a lot of time thinking about."
I say let the loser stay at Navy and have fun coaching those meager service academy kids. If he doesn't "spend a lot of time thinking about" winning a national championship then he's not the guy we want around here.

I really hope you are being sarcastic and it just doesn't come through. If you aren't, you need to really do some soul searching..."those meager service academy kids..."?

Sorry guys...no disrespect meant or intended toward the service academy people. But, you have to admit the service academy athletes are not at the same caliber as the athletes in big time football. That's all I meant to say.

Fact is they are winners period, whether anyone wanted them out of high school to play football or not.

Beware of new posters with stuff like this - some people think coaches actually look at web - and this is obviously someone trying to look like an idiot so that we look bad. Little do they know we can do that on our own without their help, thank you.

No where does it say he's staying at Navy for sure. In fact it says he'd basically open minded to a "special situation." I"ll bett 2 million a year would be a pretty special situation.

So you just reiterate the disrespect. I am still disturbed that you think ill of the service academy players in any way. Are they as talented as some BCS players, probably not. But at least one of Navy's players was Mr. Football in North Carolina...I bet he's no slouch. Some of them are great athletes, but they appreciate the concept of sacrifice. I reiterate my initial point - you sir, are a [deleted].

He's already making 1.5 mil at Navy and the Navy board is saying he gets a new Jag in his parking spot every year and he pays nothing for his phat house on a river off the Chesapeake! I don't think 2 mil will be "special" enough in his eyes!

You can call bs or you can do research. Your choice.
For example, Navy coach Paul Johnson, who was a candidate this week to take over at North Carolina State before the school settled on Boston College coach Tom O’Brien, is reportedly close to getting a sizable raise that would bump his incentive-laden salary to nearly $1.8 million.
According to the Baltimore Sun, Johnson’s six-year contract, which includes an annual, incentive-based rollover clause that will kick in Jan. 1, currently is worth about $1.3 million per year.
