A look at all the openings and SN's insight. Apparently, GT and Duke have multiple options, while Johnson and, new name, June Jones, for SMU. This last one sounds unlikely.

Jones current salary: 800k

And this doesn't sound bad:

Jones joined the University of HawaiÊ»i-MÄ

OK I think the word is out that SMU is "pushing" the market. We may have been wrong-you too-biggin-every head Coach in America that wants a raise may listen to Orsini. Then when his team matches they'll turn us down.

Jones can only recruit hawaii, he wouldn't be any good here, not to mention that we would lose all his recruits to tech because they already run a high powered offense, no room for 2 in the state of texas.

If SMU had a beach, palm trees, and pig roasts, we could possibly recruit with Jones as head coach.

Also, June has no texas ties, he is old, not very good looking and can only get rivals recruiting classes with only 8 3 stars. Plus his system won't allow us to get any lineman because they will be scared off because they won't get to showcase their run-blocking skills.

Just my opinion/fact.

JJ is also from Hawaii. I think he's made it pretty clear that he doesn't want to be anywhere else. At his age, can't say I blame him.

Guys, that is a WOW in itself !!! Now June Jones ??? fantastic coach how would be successful anywhere, but he is not leaving Hawaii....I still wish our administration would come to their senses and hire Terry Bowden. What a great guy to turn our program around. Former National Coach of the Year who wants to prove he can do it again. I hear Bowden wants the job now, but administration does not want him...

I don't think June wants to trade in his Hawaian shirts for whatever he would have to wear here.

June Jones would be perfect here. We obviously haven't gotten the best linemen to sign here to this point anyway and anytime you have a coach who's teams put up June Jones numbers, skill players will want to play for him no matter where he coaches. Look at Todd Dodge. He has already improved UNT's level of committmented recruits and he hasn't even started winning. Players know they can play under him and put up big numbers.

The list is short! That makes June a front runner?

June Jones would rather commit suicide than come coach at SMU. He'll be staying in Hawaii.

Sounds like to me nobody is listening, unless Orsini had his man all along and every coach in college football knows it. Remember coaching is a fraternity. Money plays a big part obviously, but so does freedom to run the football program as the HC.

They all say that until you start stuffing more money in their pockets and then the converstion goes something like this:

June Jones: "Orsini, I'm from Hawaii, were winning, I don't really have a desire to leave here and you're going to increase my income by how much? Over a Million a year, I will definitely find some time to fly in from Dallas to visit my friends in Hawaii during the off season."

Orsini: "Welcome to SMU, Coach Jones"
