Why No Discussions about WAC or WAC-East?

Why have the WAC and Benson have been quiet recently?

I thought weeks ago they were going to be more active. It must be difficult to hear comments about some of their East schools in play with Conf. USA and the MWC is mentioned with four of their western schools.

Comments?

The WAC will have to react. They can't act until it is known what they are left with. Yoda's pie in the sky plan would call for a proactive move to obtain SDSU and UNLV--not likely. It would also call for obtaining TCU and Houston--not likely. The WAC stands to lose 1-2 schools from the east and 1-2 schools from the west. When that happens they will react. IMHO.

Plus, Benson went on VACATION during the entire ordeal. LOL

Hmmm .... a leader going on vacation while his administration is having to deal with a crisis in his absence? Novel approach to leadership.

We've seen before that Benson's philosphy includes burying his head deep in the sand and hoping nothing happens while he's shirking his obligations.

The question is what does the WAC have to offer? Certainly no better TV deal. (WAC and ESPN decided to wait -- read ESPN decided.) No better BCS position. The only thing the WAC might have to offer is a safe haven if the wheels were coming off the C-USA. In that case the WAC could offer a good place to land in a more regional two division set-up.

Right now it is not clear if the C-USA is blowing up or not.

that's the WAC's problem. We could offer any of the schools that have been mentioned, but what would be the point? Nobody is going to leave the situation they are in until the Big East dictates the next move...and make NO mistake about it; the Big East WILL dictate the next move. Unless, of course, the ACC invites Louisville next week!
