I don't know whether he's a jerk or not.
Based on his past behavior, I would find it very hard to believe he'd help with anything this significant.

That's good news! It means he isn't in the broadcast booth. Remember MNF?

well we've got a Statute of a former great on our campus who had less of a presence at SMU than Dickerson did.

Boy I hope they don't write any statutes because of athlete's behavior.

Eric Dickerson was a great player here and has always remained a loyal SMU Mustang. His loyality is what I appreciate most about him now. Anyone who cares about this program should appreciate his support.

You sure about that? Do you remember when he couldn't keep his face off the TV when Jamal Lewis was about to break his NFL single season rushing record? He had some real nice things to say about his alma mater and why he would never support them then.

Dickerson is willing to help now and tried to help during the Bennett years also. So we need to give him a break.

Agree. I talked with him when he was honored at the SMU game this year. He is very interested in helping the program.

Then there's the day we retired his jersey. He wouldn't come to Dallas without a first-class ticket, and after halftime he went straight up the tunnel and into a waiting limo and took off. Ungrateful for everything SMU did for him, if you ask me.

Are you joking? Dickerson wouldn't presume to be mentioned in the same conversation. He was awesome, no doubt. But Doak Walker is a legend; he made it on the cover of LIFE magazine, did he not? Dickerson, albeit a record-setter, didn't hold any of that kind of gravitas.
