LETTER IN THE MUSTANG MAGAZINE

The following letter about my father appears in the most recent issue of The Mustang. I wanted to share it with all of you who are as passionate about SMU as my father was.
"I eulogize Ira Talmadge Hurst ('48), my friend, classmate, and fellow cheerleader, 1947-48.
He was the consummate, lifelong goodwill ambassador for SMU, its heritage and values.
He will not go "unwept, unhonored, and unsung" by all SMU people, and his life force, SMU school spirit will abide forever."
J.REDWINE PATTERSON ('48)
Dallas, Texas
Mr. Patterson and my father were yell leaders at SMU in 1947-48 along with Blake Tartt, Lawrence Herkimer and Tasos Pappadas. I hope to post photos of all of them from 'the glory days' in the near future. Thanks, Mr. Patterson. I pray that Dad's spirit will bring our Mustangs 'good luck' this season at Ford and on the road!
