The evidence is right before us. Orsini flies PJ and his wife down. They spend the night in Dallas. Turner cancels a meeting this morning for "more important engagements." Board meets early.
My guess is that they came an agreement in principal this morning after touring the campus. Mrs. Johnson flew back to Annapolis. Ford is celebrating down in Palm Beach while Orsini is making a pitch to the board and ironing out the details. Johnson is still in Dallas and assuming the board gives the OK an announcement will be made tomorrow.

Darth does not see PJ hanging his players out to dry like that. Maybe Darth is wrong, but PJ seems to me that he is the sort of guy that would tell his team in person before making the jump.

Mt, you certainly put together a good analysis of what might be happening. I hope you're right. It could mean something else entirely, but your theory fits better than most.

This is exactly right - PJ has been the man and the deal is getting done, albeit a bit delayed from the schedule Steve-o hoped for

I suggest that we keep track of that plane.

unfortunately that's not how the Board works. Never has. They rubberstamp and give the President and AD the authority to make these decisions. You'd be hard pressed to find a Board that debates these type of employment issues.

Let's also not forget Turner said himself that he wants this thing wrapped up this week.

I may be getting my rumors and hearsay mixed up, but wasn't there something about Turner wanting the new coach to meet the board Thursday? Maybe Johnson had a tight schedule and needed to do that early - assuming he is in fact still in Dallas?
Just a thought to try and wrap all these bits of info together.

Stallion - Do you know EVERYTHING there is to know about EVERYTHING or do you just look at www.howthingswork.com a lot?
This is a historic opportunity and Turner/Orsini are not doing this alone. Millions of dollars have been privately raised (and I have it on pretty good authority you weren't on the shortlist of donors) and some of the Board is absolutely involved in the details (read: "perks") of this multi-million dollar contract. PJ is asking for serious commitments in return for his serviced and this entire process is being taken very seriously. Thanks for playing though, My Little Pony.

The CEO of the University has authority to hire the Head Coach-especially considering the prospect of competing offers from 4 universities. The Board of Trustees will spend about 10 minutes on the issue

Ha! I obviously have too much time on my hands, but decided to see if there really was a howthingswork.com....There isn't, but it pulled up a google search page, and these were the sites that came up:
http://www.howstuffworks.com/
http://www.howstuffworks.com/big.htm
http://howthingswork.virginia.edu/
http://science.howstuffworks.com/
http://travel.howstuffworks.com/snow-maker.htm
http://entertainment.howstuffworks.com/ ... uction.htm
So, apparently "things" only work in Virginia, but "stuff" works everywhere else. Let's get that snow-maker working. Purple hippo, you on it?
