Who is saying that it's a given that SMU is willing to pay $1.5MM -$2MM+ per year for a new coach? Has someone at SMU ( in the Ath Dept. or elsewhere) actually confirmed this? I haven't seen it anywhere in writing but maybe I missed it.

If SMU is willing to pay that, then great for SMU. I think it would be a clear statement to the fans that SMU is sick of losing and ready to do what it takes to improve the program. However, all I have seen on this board is speculation that it's no problem for SMU to pony up $2MM+ per year.

It has been reported a couple places that SMU (Boss Orsini) has put together a 10-12$ million war chest for the hiring of a HC and coordinators, etc.
