Johnson D-Day+1 (Afternoon Updates 12/6)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Navy Fans,

I just spoke to Coach Johnson. He is still the coach at Navy. He is at his desk, working on Utah...and I think it's fair to say he's doing some heavy thinking.

I'm going to reflect on our conversation (ie, listen to it for clues, hints, etc...) in the next few minutes to see if there is anything else I feel comfortable sharing, but probably not.

If you have generic questions, I'll see what I can do to answer them here. There may be some rumors I can take care of - no guarantees though.

R/David A.

Nobody knows

if in fact he is still thinking about it, no meetings have been scheduled with his coaches/players, and he is in his office prepping for utah then I think that bodes very well for the USNA community.

He runs the scout Navy site, so yes he is reliable. If he says he spoke with Johnson, I am sure he spoke with Johnson.

That and the Wagner blog reveals one thing: Nobody knows but everybody speculates eh will make a decision today.

That's SID saying he doesn't know anything. His trying to feed them "something", because I'm sure he was being flooded by calls & emails. PJ is leaving navy, count on it, the question is where.

My gut tells me that he is staying at NAVY. I saw a sign a long time ago that said "time kills deals". I think that we are on to plan c or d, depending on how many times we have already been turned down.

Ok,

When you say:

He's working on Utah - it shows that despite considering offers he still cares greatly for our players at least.

He's doing heavy thinking - He has some good offers.

I'm going to reflect ... to see if there is anything else I feel comfortable sharing - There is probably at least a partial decision that has been made that you know of.

I don't know if you would have even made the post if you he were not going to answer all serious questions soon.

Great, now you have me breaking apart your small hints. At least it should all be over soon. Anyway, thanks for the post.

I'm starting to think the same thing.

Maybe he is waiting to see if Navy will match his current offers. I hope Orsini is working the phones on a plan B.

He may very well stay at Navy. Its looking more and more like he wants to Coach that Bowl Game on December 20(luckily its the first bowl). Perhaps he thinks with bargaining power he can just wait until December 20 to announce. Two weeks. Its very unusual to see this drag on unless he is perfectly happy to remain with his current employer

its tough to imagine that SMU, GA TECH and DUKE would all wait around for another two weeks. if PJ did that (which i dont think he would), that would be grossly unfair to everyone involved. could you imagine the sentiment of his football team?

just dont see it happening. i dont see this lasting much longer than tomorrow.

No way we wait for two weeks. Even if he wants to coach the game, he will still be forced to decide beforehand and then beg to stay on till after the bowl game
