DMN blog says we've contacted him...

I don't know much about the guy...anyone have thoughts? I guess we're just focusing on the service academies with our search.

2007 Mountain West Coach of the year...seems like another longshot to leave.

Says we contacted him earlier this week too. When is earlier in the week? Before or after Johnson visited?

I don't like press coming out that we've contacted people and they said no...doesn't look good. I know it has happened to everyone (michigan, GT, Ark), but if PJ says no we need to get this hire done. Bowden, RN, Fran, Barnett.

and with all of these vacancies remaining open, even the prospect of landing a RN, Bowden, or Fran becomes increasingly difficult.

Are all "the best available coaches in America" coaching at the Acadamies? If we make our way down to the Coast Guard Academy, I'm quitting.

Extremely not a 'WOW' hire.

This just shows how much Turner still runs the show in the athletic department. We want a poster-child as a coach. I don't think Turner wants to take a risk like Orsini does. The money we raised probably comes with that sort of caveat.

Orsini should quit in protest if he gets overruled. I'm sick of the cowardly SMU administration.

Why don't we make a baseless claim and run with it?

I heard Rob Schneider hires day laborers at the Home Depot to come to his house and choke him in the shower.

If you look at the way we have conducted this search, one could infer that we were clearly going for a coach that wasn't currently coaching. The administration didn't start calling on alumni until the day after they fired Bennett. It would be logical to assume that once they raised the money, the people that are footing the bill had some sort of criteria they wanted met.

I'm assuming that they were not fans of our first choices of Barnett, Bowden, and Neuhiesel and possibly Shula. This is why, I believe, that we didn't move on these guys immediately which forced Orsini to go to another pool of candidates.
