Does this "hostage" statement hurt or help Barnett?

Either Turner/Orsini buy into it and think "yeah, nothing really did materialize out of those claims, and maybe the courts/media did handle it unfairly..."

Or they think "boy, don't want anybody saying that with the letters SMU next to their name."

I think this'll factor in big if Turner/Orsini even consider Gary Barnett. I think this hurts his chances at SMU, which is unfortunate in my opinion, because I think in many ways this would make him an even more sensational hire than he'd already be and legally he seems to have been cleared of any wrong doing.

Yeah, except for that huge settlement CU had to pay.

Yeah, the settlement definitely would make Turner's palms sweat but the fact that Barnett didn't get pinned with anything in the end may be enough to earn him a closed-door chat with Orsini. I think I'd interview the guy if I were Orsini: a) I'd want to know what really happened, and b) I think I'd trust myself enough to be able to evaluate his trustworthiness
