What is a Wow Hire?

To me a Wow hire has both a name and a record. In other words, when you tell your Texas, A&M, OU friends who you hired, you should NOT have to follow it up with, you know..the Navy Coach, that runs the wishbone, remember they beat ND this year?
Johnson would only be a WOW hire in that he really SHOULD not come here. ANY up and coming hot name, should not come here. We should be targeting name coaches that can recruit.

Jason Garrett would be a WOW hire.
Barnett or Bowden would be a WOW hire.
I never considered PJ a WOW hire.
O'Leary would not be a WOW hire.

You are an idiot whose expectations are way out of line. Of course Jason Garrett would be a WOW hire - it he wouldn't [deleted] on any offer we made him. He's going to be an NFL HC next year, not the coach of a non-BCS college team in the worst conference in D1.

Agreed he never said that, but most of the coaches mentioned in our search for an SMU are WOW hires to the outside.
I am sticking with who I liked from the beginning, Terry Bowden. That is a WOW hire. Not saying he would come here, but EVERYONE knows him.,

I really like PJ and wish him the best. He was just doing Orsini a courtesy of checking out SMU since they are buds. Probably never would have taken the job.
I want to kick the [deleted] of Orsini though. Come on and Pony Up you [deleted]. If he doesn't come through on this one, I will bury that [deleted].
