ok, so ive had just enough of this BS like most of you PFs...i was a somewhat supporter for Krag and thought PJ would have been a decent hire but enough is enough...
its about to go on 14 days since our season was officially over and still no coach. does turner or orsini realize we lose ground in the recruiting game every day we dont have a coach. look at Nebraska, osbourne didnt want to lose ground so he named himself interim coach. 4 days later he tapped Pelini has the new HC.
WHAT EVER HAPPEND TO THAT WOW HIRE? well Gary Barnett is THE WOW HIRE WE NEED...and i know hes been taken out of the HC conversation for a while now but he is the BEST coach available...just look at his resume...i dont care if he caused a huge scandal at CU, whats in the past is there, just leave it alone.
so ill end this rant by saying, BRING IN BARNETT!!! NOW!

Barnett is an excellent coach, but I don't see Turner budging on this one.

Geez. I bet they haven't thought of that. Better call and tell them in case they don't read your post. Hurry.

Would Turner relent if Steve-O threatened to resign over it?

I don't know. He knows his future is tied very tightly to the success of this hire and he might if he knows he needs a Barnett type to succeed.

re: "we lose ground in the recruiting game every day we dont have a coach"
JT....this worries me some too.
I had a friend call me this week and told me a story relating to this.
He said there is a 6.4, 206lb, High School QB in California that
attended a football camp at SMU and he has relatives in Dallas.
He was interested in attending college in Dallas.
He attends a private school in California and has excellent grades.
He was contacted by Tulane and somehow either he contacted SMU
or SMU contacted him.......but he recently got a letter from SMU
stating that no recruiting would be done until a head coach was named.
So the kid committed to Tulane.
I am not sure if SMU would have had real interest in the kid, but
more importantly it is an example of how we may be losing
recruits because we do not have a coaching staff or head coach
in place.
How much of this is going on????????
Click link below to see this kids bio that just committed
to Tulane after showing interest in SMU:

We've now offcially been shut out of the race for the Top JC players since its unrealistic to think we could sign a Coach, get a staff, contact recruits, get visits and get a commitment from a decent JC players before the JUCO signing date December 19th. Big problem for this team next year. Big holes to fill. Of course, we also lost a kid to TCU. Quite frankly SMU's recruiting will likely not resume until January 6th or so because of the Dead Periods. This wll have a negative lag affect on the program for 5 years.
