Why college football sucks where we live today... sports.

Time for some overreaction.

One of the reasons I like pro football a hell of a lot better than college is that it's "fair." Everyone's on an even playing field. Teams don't collude to exclude other teams from their conferences, schedules, championship games and revenue. Teams don't have a major advantage in getting free agent players and coaches.

It's sickening that we can't hire a coach because of the conference we're stuck in, and that we're forced to wait until 20 other schools have had their pick of the litter just because they lucked into a better conference.

I obviously haven't thought much about this until about 5 minutes ago, but the "outsiders" need to start considering bringing a suit against the NCAA and the BCS schools in an effort to even the playing field. Anyone else heard of this discussed at all by anyone?

The situation f'ing sux.

I'm sure it has been discussed, but there is nothing the have-nots can do. We are voluntary members of the NCAA so we have to deal with everything that comes with it.

There's no reasonable alternative to the NCAA. It's not like the schools have a choice to go somewhere else.

That is why we should focus on basketball. We are on an even playing field there.

A "fair" system would be one where there were, say, six regional conferences total with approx. 18-19 teams each.

Each conference would have three tiers based on the previous years' performance of the schools. The best teams from the previous year would end up in tier 1 and play each other as a conference schedule.

The champions of each conference would get 6 championship series bids, with two more going to at-large teams. 8-team playoff for the championship. Or, make a 16-team championship and give the 6 conference champs a bye in round one. Even better.

Problem solved.
