BCS Un-American

Postby Duke Blue Blood » Fri Dec 07, 2007 11:43 am

We have all heard this before, but we CAN NOT recruit players or coaches or EVER compete at the same level at other schools because of the cartel called the BCS. The Johnson hire is just one more reminder.

Imagine if you were in a profession that put a ceiling on what you can make. It is just such BS.

We should do it more like British Soccer, where you have the ability to move up from lone league to the next. That way, the Baylors and Vanderbilts would fall and the App States and Boise States of the world can move up.

Would you really support that system considering one Duke would be out fo the BCS division as fast as the Baylors and Vandy?

Absolutely. And YES, SMU would be on the bottom of the leagues right now, but at least there is hope. If you look at the Premiership, the top teams usually stay up there, but every year, two teams get a shot and two teams get knocked out. That is FAIR. If we suck, we suck. If we bust our [deleted], then we get a shot.

The best thing for them (since it it for profit) is a team could be bought for $10MM and within three to four years could be a $100MM team.

That system creates even more disparity than the BCS.

Since the Premier League was formed in '92-93, only 4 different teams have won the league.

In the last 5 years, only 2 teams outside the "Big 4" have managed to finish the season better than 5th place.

You got it right, Blue Blood. The BCS should either be abolished or it should include everyone.

Putting Vanderbilt in the same sentance as Baylor indicates that you have little knowledge of the recent track record of these two teams.

File the name Earl Bennett away - you will soon be watching him on Sundays along with Jay Cutler and many other quality athletes after he is drafted in the first round as one of th etop WRs in next year's NFL draft.

Yes - Baylor is a joke, but I assure you that Vandy does at least play with (and beat) the Georgias, Tennessees, and South Carolinas of the SEC.

If HC Bobby Johnson were available - I would take him any day of the week and twice on Sundays over Paul Johnson.

Man...someone is REALLY sensitive about his hometown team.

I know that Vanderbilt has been playing better of late. I was just bringing up two known smaller private schools in BCS conferences. Would it make you feel better if I took out Vandy and replaced them with Duke.

What would Jesse Jackson do?

Find others who agree with you. Coordinate your efforts.

Boycott the companies and their products who are associated with the various BCS bowl games.

Not saying that we follow the Premiership exactly. It is not a completely fair system as the best players can be bought.

What I am saying is, a team that gets good players that play well as a team, have a chance to move up.

We have NO, ZIP, ZERO chance of EVER playing for a championship. The BEST we can get is a BCS bowl. I will go on the record and tell you that ALL any "winner" should ever shoot for is a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP. Every other bowl is just that, a bowl. Yeah, it pays great money, but it is just a game for second place.
