How Strong?

I know there's some kind of "no coordinators!" sentiment out there, but would Steve-O even make a call to Florida DC Charlie Strong?

I know, everybody wants a head coach. I have no idea if Strong would be interested either. But getting him might be helped by the chance to have his first head coach gig - something we couldn't offer Johnson or another head coach.

And let's not assume that all coordinators would be instant failures - after all, just about every head coach out there was a coordinator before taking the reigns of a program for the first time.

I don't know why, but for some reason, I have a bad feeling about pulling a DC from a top program. You would think that being a defensive coordinator, he would make our defense better. Makes sense, but still, from some reason, I can't put my finger on it, I have a bad feeling about pulling a DC from a top program.

If we were goign to get a DC from a major program why not get one that has a good defense?

I thought Charlie Strong would be a good candidate back when Bennett was hired...but probably not considering where we are right now. If we can't find a HC with experience and at least some proven success, I'd have hi on my list of Coordinators to interview.

I do keep returning to Orsini's quote that "diversity is important" in this hire. I assume we will make a run at Turner Gill to see just how committed he is to enjoying another winter in Buffalo

How about a DC that already has head coaching experience? Dan McCarney is looking. Interviewing at Northern Illinois right now, in fact.

The only thing he ever did wrong was beat his wife. But that was a long time ago, so that ought to fly with Turner, no? Didn't he say they only couldn't have a controversial past to running a football program?

I think we already made a run at Gill and he declined to interview. Anyway, he has publicly stated now he is not going anywhere.

Maybe because PB was a DC from a top program.

yeah, as long as its been more than 5 years since you beat your wife, it's all good.
