Orsini-Interim Coach

I think Orsini needs to take a page from Tom Osborne's book and name himself interim coach for recruiting purposes. Unless they are prepared to hire Fran who could have a staff in place and immediate access to some JC players, it would make sense to me that he 1) be prepared to offer some scholarships to much needed JC help which 2) would send a message to coaching prospects that our transfer requirements have been eased (if they have been). I would have no problem with Orsini signing Bell, and some much needed LB and DL help. When it comes to full scale recruiting, the newly hired Head Coach should have full reign on who he wants for his system, but the glaring need for immediate help in certain areas call for preparation and ability to get some JCs in here at signing time in a few days.

I've been thinking that for a while. It's gonna suck when we start our recruiting efforts in May. Does anyone know how this has been handled so far? I've haven't really seen anything on the board, so I have to plead ignorance here.

Orsini got a waiver from the NCAA to recruit for a couple of weeks, but I believe that expired Nov. 10. No idea what we're doing otherwise.

Orsini was granted permission for a short term to "recruit" which he used to contact our committments and let them know that we still wanted them and expected them to still want us. That term ended around the 10th of November I believe. I really do not want him recruiting. That is the job of the actual coach we hire. But some JC contact would be nice.

the difference between Osbourne and Orsini is the fact that Steve-O was never a football coach. Tom-O was and he knows the ins and outs of recruiting

Ok, then I have another stupid question. I know PB is gone, but does that also mean we have no coaching staff? Are all the assistants gone too?

Yeah but even I could speak with the Bell kid and check into some LBS. We need the ability to contact.

I would rather have Ron Myer! He never failed to close a deal involving money and football!
