who else was a candidate for the SMU HC job when we hired Phil Bennett?

I always thought the most likely candidate during that time was Charlie Waters.

dirk koetter was a candidate no? i think he was on the way out of az st. at the time. mangino was available too but i dont think he was ever contacted. oops.

I had heard that Chow was very interested but we would not pay his asking price. Or did the asking price stop the interview from happening?

He was the OC at USC at the time and thought he could do better.
